I wrote this song to express my feelings of COVID over the last few years, especially after hearing stories of people saying goodbye to their loved ones from the outside looking into their homes.
My grandpa came to me in a dream, it was the first time I had seen him since he left us almost 2 decades ago. In it he had a quality about him I had never seen before when he was alive. He was youthful and full of wonder, as if all of life's callous layers were stripped of his soul. I don't remember what we talked about, and though what felt like an eternity ended in an instant. As the dream scene zoomed out and faded to black I heard him with a shocked look on his face whisper to me "is that all, is that it? How curious..."
I woke up with this melody in my head and started writing again.
I dedicate this song to all of those who've had to say goodbye through the portals of a looking glass.
